$99.00
Sesotho Southern, also known as Southern Sotho or South Sotho, is a Southern Bantu language a language spoken primarily in South Africa, where it is one of the 11 official languages, as well as in Lesotho, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia and Zambia. In South Africa, it’s spoken mainly in the Free State province, the northern part of the Eastern Cape province and the south of the Gauteng province.
Loan words and influences have been taken from neighbouring Nguni languages such as isiZulu and isiXhosa, as well as from European languages such as English and Afrikaans, making it an interesting mix of a language.
Did you know?
The mythology of the Basotho – the people who speak Sesotho – is concerned with their origin and the things around them in nature. Most of their folk tales start with “Ba re e ne ere…” which means “They say it happened that…”. Now, we think that’s pretty similar to “Once upon a time…” That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
